CATA hosts March job fair in search of bus operators
LANSING, Mich. — Look to the road for your dream career. The Capital Area Transportation Authority is hosting a job fair, Thursday, March 7, 2024, in search of bus operators. No experience is necessary as CATA offers paid training. On-site interviews will be conducted throughout the day.
The event will be held at the Marriott East Lansing at University Place, 300 M.A.C. Avenue, in the Beaumont Room, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Free parking is available in the parking ramp adjacent to the hotel. Tickets will be validated on site.
CATA announces service reductions over MSU spring break
Lansing, Mich. — The Capital Area Transportation Authority is preparing to implement several service changes as Michigan State University pauses for spring break. The changes will be in effect Monday, Feb. 26, through Sunday, March 3, 2024.
During the week of spring break, Spartan Service routes operating on MSU’s campus will change as follows:

LANSING, Mich. — Look to the road for your dream career. The Capital Area Transportation Authority is hosting an open house, Thursday, Feb. 22, in search of bus mechanics.
Qualified candidates will receive a $7,500 signing bonus, earn $35 per hour – top transit wages in the state – and competitive employee benefits including health care coverage, which begins on the first day of employment.

Tri-county transits give voters free rides to early voting and polling sites for presidential primary election
LANSING, Mich. – To eliminate transportation barriers for voters, the region’s three transit agencies – CATA, EATRAN and Clinton Transit – will provide systemwide free rides to early voting locations Feb. 17-25 and to polling sites on Tuesday, Feb. 27, the day of the presidential primary election. There will be no in-person voting on Monday, Feb. 26. To ride free of charge, simply inform your driver that you are going to vote when you board. There is no ID requirement.
CATA awarded $1.6 million to expand regional transit
LANSING, Mich. – The Capital Area Transportation Authority will receive $1,664,000 for continued regional coordination of transit, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation.
“MDOT is pleased to fund CATA’s Enhance Lansing Equity via Creative Transit Solutions project,” said Jean Ruestman, MDOT Office of Passenger Transportation administrator. We are very excited to partner with CATA to advance regional transit in an equitable manner.”
Routes and Stops Impacted by Farm Lane Bridge Construction Project
Multiple CATA services on MSU’s campus are on detour due to a construction project taking place on Farm Lane. This project is estimated to be completed by late-June 2024.
Affected bus routes include:
EATRAN Connector to resume Jan. 15, Saturday service to launch Jan. 20
LANSING, Mich. – The Eaton County Transportation Authority will bring back a new-and-improved Connector service Jan. 15, 2024. The new service will operate 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, and – in an unprecedented move – Saturday service will be available between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. The new Connector will offer improved routing and expanded service hours.

As part of a pilot program, limited holiday service will be offered on Christmas Day, Monday, Dec. 25, 2023, while all other CATA operations – Fixed Route, Spec-Tran, Rural Service, Connector, Redi-Ride and Shopping Bus – close for the day.
