Ingham County Parks and CATA have teamed up to connect residents with free rides to top local parks throughout the year.
Catch a Free Ride to an Ingham County Park
Ingham County parks offer year-round activities in the great outdoors. To give residents greater access to these parks, Ingham County’s Parks Department partnered with CATA on a year-round fare-free transportation program.
Free rides are available to the following parks:
- Burchfield Park — Delhi Township
- Lake Lansing North and South Parks — Meridian Township
- Hawk Island Park — City of Lansing
Fare-free rides are available on CATA Redi-Ride, Spec-Tran and CATA Rural Service for eligible customers, courtesy of Ingham County Parks. All trips are subject to CATA’s service hours, ride availability and service area boundaries. Spec-Tran customers must be certified in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Advance reservations are required — up to one day in advance depending on the service. To book your free ride, call 517-394-2282 and let the representative know you’d like to schedule a park trip.
The reservation line is open weekdays 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and weekends 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Be prepared to provide:
- Name of the park you want to visit
- Date and time of your trip
- Your contact information
- Details of any mobility devices you require
- Names of guests accompanying you
Burchfield Park
Free trips to Burchfield Park are available year-round on Delhi Ride-Ride and Spec-Tran.
Lake Lansing Parks North and South
Free trips to the Lake Lansing Parks are available year-round on Meridian Ride-Ride and Spec-Tran.
Hawk Island Park
Free trips to Hawk Island Park are available year-round on CATA's Spec-Tran.

Residents of Ingham County's outlying areas may also book trips on CATA Rural Service free of charge to connect with Spec-Tran or Redi-Ride for service to the park.
Spec-Tran customers must be certified in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
