CATA closes for Independence Day holiday
In observance of Independence Day, the Capital Area Transportation Authority will be closed Monday, July 4, 2022. The Fourth of July holiday closure will apply to all Monday services, including CATA fixed-route (regularly scheduled bus service), Connector, Redi-Ride, Rural Service, Shopping Bus and Spec-Tran.
Service will conclude according to regular service schedules on Sunday, July 3, 2022, and resume regular service at the beginning of service Tuesday, July 5, 2022.
CATA Board of Directors approves zero-emission fleet transition by 2035
The Capital Area Transportation Authority’s Board of Directors voted unanimously yesterday to approve an initiative that would commit the public transportation service provider to transition its entire fleet of revenue and non-revenue vehicles to zero-emission by 2035.

Capital Area Transportation Authority (CATA) is upgrading all its riders to Transit Royale, the new subscription in the Transit app. Today, CATA joins systems across the country in gifting Royale to its riders, with more agencies planning announcements in the coming months.
Mask no longer required aboard CATA
CATA announced tonight that it will no longer require a mask aboard vehicles or in public transportation hubs.
“We are working expeditiously to update our public notices and remove signage requiring masks. We appreciate our riders’ compliance with the TSA Security Directive for the past couple of years,” said CATA Chief Executive Officer Bradley T. Funkhouser, AICP. The CDC’s Jan. 29, 2021, order requiring masks on public transportation conveyances and in public transportation hubs is no longer in effect.
CATA to host job fair on Tuesday, April 19
Stop by CATA’s job fair on Tuesday, April 19, at the former Sears building in the Frandor Shopping Center, 3131 E Michigan Ave., for on-site interviews. The job fair runs from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
