CATA is moving forward with several facility improvement projects to maintain and enhance its buildings and the spaces used by riders, employees and the community. Projects planned for late 2026 include improvements to the CATA Transportation Center, the Grand Avenue bus lane and the building at 511 S. Washington St.

CATA Transportation Center Improvements

The CATA Transportation Center (CTC) rehabilitation project has been awarded, with construction estimated to begin in fall 2026.
Planned improvements include refreshed restrooms, new flooring, upgrades to the Indian Trails ticket counter, door and hardware improvements, and concrete and drain repairs.

During construction, riders may encounter temporary sidewalk closures or changes to pedestrian access around the CTC. Please follow posted signage and use designated pedestrian access points when entering the building.

Grand Avenue Bus Lane Project

Following CATA Board approval at its Aug. 19, 2026, meeting, construction of the Grand Avenue bus lane project is estimated to begin in fall 2026.

The project includes removing the existing curb, sidewalk and landscaping along Grand Avenue outside the CTC to make room for a new bus lane with parking for six buses. New sidewalk and ramp access, curbing and flag poles next to the building are also planned.

Construction may affect pedestrian access around the CTC. Riders are encouraged to watch for signage and follow designated walking routes.

511 S. Washington Building Rehabilitation

CATA is planning rehabilitation improvements for its building at 511 S. Washington St. The proposed work includes a new Resource Center, modifications to the board room, roof and HVAC replacements, and sidewalk and parking lot improvements. An elevator is also included as an alternate bid.

These improvements are intended to enhance the building and support its continued use.
