The Capital Area Transportation Authority (CATA) has extended the Phase II public survey for CATA’s Road Ahead through Friday, June 12, providing additional time for residents, riders and community stakeholders to help shape the future of transit services.

CATA’s Road Ahead is a year-long, comprehensive analysis of CATA's transit services. The study is evaluating both fixed-route and demand-response services to identify opportunities to improve efficiency, grow ridership and reduce barriers to mobility across the tri-county region.

The project is currently in Phase II, which focuses on gathering feedback on two draft service concepts informed by feedback gathered during Phase I. More than 500 people participated in Phase I through public meetings, community outreach events and online engagement. The draft concepts are intended to help explore how transit service could grow and adapt in the future and are not final recommendations, planned routes or approved service changes.

Community members are encouraged to review project materials, including Phase I feedback and data, and provide input on draft service concepts under consideration.

Ways to participate in the Phase II survey include:

  • Completing the online survey at the CATA's Road Ahead webpage
  • Requesting or downloading a paper survey and returning it to Customer Experience or mailing it to CATA
  • Sharing feedback in person at a CATA's Road Ahead event or through a Customer Experience Representative • Emailing feedback to info@cata.org
  • Calling 517-394-1100 to provide feedback or request survey assistance (weekdays 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., weekends 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.)

The survey and project materials are available in Spanish, Mandarin, Korean, Arabic and Farsi.

Feedback for Phase II must be received by June 12. Public engagement will continue beyond Phase II. Later this year, Phase III will introduce potential service recommendations developed under a range of budget scenarios, and CATA will continue gathering feedback from riders, community stakeholders and employees. Findings and recommendations are expected to be presented to the CATA Board of Directors this fall. Any future service changes would follow CATA's standard public meeting process, providing additional opportunities for public review and feedback before implementation is considered.
