Curb-to-Curb & Paratransit

UPDATE: In accordance with the federal mandate, face masks must be worn at all times on all CATA vehicles and in all CATA facilities. Children under the age of 2 are exempt from wearing a mask. Physical distancing of at least 6 feet is also required.

Schedules are subject to change without notice. Given the potential for unplanned adjustments in service related to the pandemic, customers are encouraged to visit cata.org for the most current service information.

Beginning Jan. 5, 2020, customers can call CATA 7 days a week to reserve rides on any paratransit service!

CATA offers a variety of advance-reservation, curb-to-curb services that will take you to your destination.

When most people think of CATA, they think of big buses picking up customers at bus stops. But there are additional services available to get you where you need to go - near a bus route, within a township, in rural Ingham County or on MSU’s campus.

Paratransit services utilize smaller buses and minivans and run curb-to-curb which means you are picked up at your curb and taken to your destination. As a demand-response service, all rides must be reserved in advance. This applies to the following services:

  • CRS
  • Lot Link
  • Night Owl
  • Redi-Rides
  • Spec-Tran

Connector and Shopping Bus operate on a regular schedule, therefore ride reservations are not required.

CRS, Lot Link, Night Owl, Mason Connector, and Redi-Rides No-Show Rules (Excludes Spec-Tran)

Cameras on Board Paratransit Vehicles

In April 2018 CATA contracted with Transdev, an international public transit services company, to assist with transporting CATA’s paratransit customers. With this new partnership comes a new initiative—cameras on board.

For the safety of our drivers, passengers and community, all small buses and minivans operated by Transdev will be equipped with technology that records audio and video of activities occurring inside and/or outside the vehicle. This technology is powered by Lytx in partnership with Transdev and CATA.
