Throughout Ozone Action Season we host and participate in various public events designed to give community members a chance to test out a clean commute travel mode. Our two largest events are Casual Commute Day and the Come Clean Duathlon— both of which have been held annually since 2014.
Casual Commute Day
We challenge the community to go car-free on the first Friday in May. Commuters make the pledge on the event website by selecting the region they commute to and the alternative travel mode they plan to use. We compete against other regions in the State of Michigan to see which community can offer the most pledges. Partnerships with various businesses allow us to raffle off prizes to the pledgees.
To learn more about the event visit our website: www.casualcommute.org. If you’re interested in sponsoring the event please contact the office at email@example.com.
Join us on May 5, 2017 for the next Casual Commute Day!
Come Clean Duathlon
On the second Sunday in September we host a run-bike-run that promotes non-motorized transportation, community involvement and clean air. Racers complete a 1.4 mile run, 12.4 bike, and a 5k run at Lake Lansing Park South. All finishers receive a t-shirt, goodie bag and medal. Additionally, we offer cash prizes to top finishers and age group winners.
Learn more on Facebook, Twitter or at www.comecleanduathlon.org. If you’re interested in volunteering or sponsoring the event, contact the Race Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org.
