Free rides on CATA trolleys for St. Patrick’s Day
You wouldn’t chase a rainbow in search of a pot of gold, so why push your luck on St. Patrick’s Day? There’s a golden opportunity aboard CATA’s Entertainment Express for those who plan to partake of the festivities on March 17. The distinctive trolleys will travel the Michigan/Grand River Avenue corridor providing 11 hours of free rides as a safe and responsible alternative to driving to the area’s favorite destinations.
“As a community partner who is committed to safety, CATA is honored to provide free rides on St. Patrick’s Day,” said CATA CEO Bradley T. Funkhouser. “It’s a no-brainer to offer a smart transportation option to residents of and visitors to our region, particularly on occasions when they may be more inclined to indulge over longer periods of time. By offering this free service, we help make the corridor safer and public transportation more accessible to everyone along the route.”
The Entertainment Express trolleys will start service earlier on Saturday — at 4 p.m. — and run every 15 minutes between downtown Lansing and East Lansing until 3 a.m. To catch a free ride, board either trolley at any of the 23 Entertainment Express bus stops along the route.
All other CATA routes and services will operate as usual and require the normal fare to ride. Download the Transit app to obtain route-by-route real-time departures while tracking your bus on your mobile device. Visit cata.org for details.
