CATA Winter Break Service Changes 2017
CATA’s Spartan Service concludes for winter break

Lansing, MI — As MSU students head into finals week, CATA prepares to implement its winter break schedule on a number of routes beginning Monday, Dec. 18.
Spartan Service routes operating on MSU’s campus will conclude for the break as follows:
Weekday MSU Campus Service: Routes 32 and 33 will conclude regular service on campus at
7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15. Routes 30, 31 and 39 will operate until 2:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16.
Night Owl: Curb-to-curb campus service will operate as usual until 9 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 17.
Weekend MSU Campus Service: Routes 34, 35, 36 and Lot Link will operate in accordance with
regular Saturday and Sunday service schedules through 2 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18.
In addition to all MSU campus service concluding as of Dec. 18, Spartan Service levels provided on Routes 1, 20, 23, 25, 26 and Entertainment Express will end and reduced service levels will be in place as described below. Route 1 Downtown Lansing /Meridian Mall: During the holiday break, Friday and Saturday late-night Spartan Service will not operate. Service ends at 11:35 p.m. with the last bus departing Meridian Mall at 11 p.m. en route to the CATA Transportation Center. Saturday buses will depart every 10-15 minutes most of the day. Sunday service will operate at a 20-minute frequency all day.
Route 20 South Harrison/Jolly/Dunckel: Monday through Thursday service will operate at a reduced frequency of every 35 minutes most of the day. Buses will not enter the Multimodal Gateway during the break but will continue to serve the facility via stops on Harrison Road. Route 20 will travel into Spartan Village and the MSU/CTC at Ramp 1 while continuing to serve the adjacent Shaw Lane shelters.
Route 22 MSU/Haslett/Okemos: Buses will travel into the MSU/CTC at Ramp 1 while continuing to serve the Shaw and Farm Boarding Area.
Route 23 MSU/Okemos/Haslett: Weekdays between 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., buses will run at a reduced frequency of every 35-45 minutes. Buses will travel into the MSU/CTC at Ramp 1 while continuing to serve the Shaw and Farm Boarding Area.
Route 25 North Harrison: Weekday buses will operate every 60 minutes during the day rather than every 30 minutes. Evening and weekend service will remain the same.
Route 26 Abbot/Chandler: Weekday buses will operate every 45 minutes rather than every 6 to 10 minutes and conclude earlier - at 7:20 p.m. at the MSU/CTC at Ramp 1. There will be no Thursday, Friday or Saturday late-night service to downtown East Lansing. Saturday and Sunday service will continue to operate every 40 minutes, with Saturday trips ending earlier - at 7:10 p.m. - at the MSU/CTC.
Entertainment Express: On Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights during the break, trolley service will continue to serve destinations along the Grand River Avenue/Michigan Avenue corridor. Entertainment Express will operate less frequently-every 30 minutes rather than every 15 minutes-between downtown Lansing and downtown East Lansing from 7:30 p.m. until 3 a.m. during the break.
During the break, service to LCC West will operate as follows:
Route 12 W. Michigan/Waverly/LCC West: Buses will continue to follow the LCC West service schedule through Friday, Dec 15. On Monday, Dec. 18, Route 12 will follow the breaks and holiday schedule with service every 45 minutes most of the day and evening. A shuttle bus will be available to transport passengers from Ollie’s to LCC West throughout the day. Starting Dec. 19, there will be no service to LCC West on Route 12 as buses will not travel west of Waverly Road.
Spartan Service Resumes Monday, Jan. 8, 2018:
- Lot Link will resume campus service at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7, and run until 2 a.m. Monday morning, Jan. 8, when Night Owl returns to service.
- Spartan Service provided on Routes 1, 20, 23, 25, 26, 30 – 33, 39 will resume on Monday, Jan. 8.
- NEW - Route 24 will implement a change in weekday service when MSU is in session. Starting Jan. 8, Monday-Friday buses will depart every 35 minutes resulting in new departure times. Weekend trips are not impacted and will continue every 60 minutes. During MSU breaks and holidays, weekday service will operate at the current 30-minute frequency (no change in departure times).
- Route 12 will also resume service to LCC West on Jan. 8.
