CATA Service Schedule for Winter Break
Lansing, MI — As MSU students head into finals week, CATA prepares to implement its winter break schedule on a number of routes beginning Monday, Dec. 16. Spartan Service routes operating on MSU’s campus will change as follows:
Weekday MSU Campus Service: Monday-Friday routes will conclude for winter break as follows:
- Route 33 – at 10:25 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13
- Route 38 – at 10:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13
- Routes 30, 31 and 39 – by 2:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14
Night Owl: Curb-to-curb campus service will operate until 9 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 15.
Weekend MSU Campus Service: Routes 34, 35, 36 and Lot Link will operate through 2 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16.
Route 32 Commuter Lot/Snyder Hall/Clinical Center: Starting Monday, Dec. 16, the fare-free route will operate weekdays from 7:00 a.m. until 7:25 p.m. at a reduced frequency during the break. Buses will depart the MSU-CATA Transportation Center at Ramp 1 every 30 minutes, traveling to the Auditorium, Snyder Hall, Clinical Center and Commuter Lot 89.
In addition to most MSU campus routes concluding for winter break, Spartan Service levels provided on Routes 20, 23, 25 and 26 will end, and service changes will be in place as described below:
Route 20 South Harrison/Jolly/Dunckel: Route 20 will travel into Spartan Village and to the MSU/CTC at Ramp 1 while continuing to serve the Shaw and Farm boarding area.
Route 23 MSU/Okemos/Haslett: Weekdays between 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., buses will run at a reduced frequency serving all stops every 35 to 45 minutes. Buses will travel to the MSU/CTC at Ramp 1 while continuing to serve the Shaw and Farm boarding area.
Route 25 North Harrison: Weekday buses will serve all stops every 60 minutes during the day rather than every 30 minutes. Evening and weekend service will remain the same.
Route 26 Abbot/Chandler: Weekday buses will serve stops every 45 minutes rather than every 6 to 10 minutes and conclude at the MSU/CTC at Ramp 1 at 7:15 p.m. There will be no Thursday, Friday or Saturday late-night service to downtown East Lansing. Saturday and Sunday service will continue to operate every 40 minutes, with Saturday trips ending at 7:15 p.m.
Winter break also impacts the following routes:
Route 12 W. Michigan/Waverly/LCC West: Buses will continue to follow the LCC West service schedule through Friday, Dec 13. On Monday, Dec. 16, Route 12 will follow the breaks and holiday schedule with service to bus stops every 45 minutes most of the day and evening. A shuttle bus will be available to transport passengers from Ollie’s to LCC West throughout the day. Starting Dec. 17, there will be no service to LCC West on Route 12 as buses will not travel west of Waverly Road. Service to LCC West resumes Jan. 6, 2020.
Route 22 MSU/Haslett/Okemos: Buses will travel to the MSU/CTC at Ramp 1 while continuing to serve the Shaw and Farm boarding area.
Route 24 East Lansing/E. Lake Lansing Road: Monday to Friday buses will depart stops every 30 minutes rather than every 35 minutes most of the day during the break. Weekend trips will continue every 60 minutes.
Spartan Service resumes Monday, Jan. 6, 2020. Lot Link will begin serving the MSU campus at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, and run until 2 a.m. Monday morning when Night Owl returns to service. Spartan Service provided on Routes 20, 23, 25, 26, 30 – 33, 38 and 39 will resume Monday, Jan. 6.
