CATA implements service changes for winter break

As the end of Michigan State University’s fall semester approaches, CATA prepares to implement service changes over winter break.
Winter Break Service Changes
The following changes to Spartan Service routes go into effect Monday, Dec. 16, 2024, and continue through Sunday, Jan. 12, 2025:
- Route 1 — Downtown Lansing/Meridian Mall
- Weekday departures from bus stops along downtown Lansing’s Capitol Loop will continue to occur up to eight minutes later than usual Monday through Friday evening.
- Route 20 — South Harrison/Jolly/Dunckel
- The route will travel into Spartan Village during the break. Buses will travel into the MSU-CTC/Ramp 1 and serve the Shaw and Farm boarding center. Weekend buses will depart some stops up to five minutes earlier.
- Route 22 — MSU/Haslett/Okemos and Route 23 — MSU/Okemos/Haslett
- Buses will travel into the MSU-CTC/Ramp 1 and serve the Shaw and Farm boarding center.
- Route 26 — Abbot/Chandler
- Weekday service will operate on a 45-minute frequency throughout each day and conclude at 7:15 p.m. Saturday service ends at 7:15 p.m. There is no change in Sunday service.
- Route 32 — Commuter Lot/Snyder Hall/Clinical Center
- Campus service along Farm Lane and Service Road will operate at a 30-minute frequency, Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. until 7:25 p.m.
- Routes 30, 31, 33-36, 38, 39, Lot Link and Night Owl
- Services do not operate on MSU’s campus during the break.
Spartan Service will resume Monday, Jan. 13, 2025.
Downtown Lansing Service Changes
Permanent changes to the following downtown routes will also go into effect Monday, Dec. 16:
- Route 3 — Willow-Marketplace Boulevard
- Monday-Friday, two new early morning trips will depart the CTC at 5:10 a.m. and 5:40 a.m., and travel to Marketplace Boulevard in Delta Township. The 5:30 a.m. weekday trip will continue to travel to Saginaw & Waverly. The 6 a.m. weekday trip departing the CTC toward Saginaw and Waverly will be eliminated. One additional weekday morning Capitol Loop trip has been added.
- Route 9 — South Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.-Miller
- Monday-Friday, buses currently departing South Pennsylvania Meijer at 2:55 p.m. for downtown Lansing will depart five minutes earlier at 2:50 p.m. There will be no layover at Meijer on this trip. All stops between Meijer and Hill Vocational Center will depart five minutes earlier, while stops between Hill Vocational Center, and Waverly and Jolly will depart 2-3 minutes earlier.
