Tri-county transit agencies offer free rides to polling sites

Wednesday, April 23, 2025

Categories: General

To eliminate transportation barriers and ensure voter access, the tri-county region’s three transit agencies – CATA, EATRAN and Clinton Transit – are offering systemwide free rides to polling sites on Tuesday, May 6, the day of the special election. Just let the driver know you're going to vote when you board — no ID is required to receive a free ride.

Free transportation is also available for those who need to register to vote in person with their local clerk through Tuesday, May 6.

For this special election, early voting is only available in Eaton County on Saturday, May 3, and Sunday, May 4. Those interested in early voting at the Delta Township Administration Building in Eaton County can ride free with CATA and EATRAN on May 3. CATA will also offer free rides to the same location on May 4.

For voting information, including sample ballots, polling sites and ballot box locations, visit the Michigan Voter Infomation Center or check your local city, township or county website.

Trips on CATA’s Spec-Tran and Rural Service must be scheduled by 5 p.m. the day before you plan to vote. Same-day rides are not available for these services. CATA also recommends that all Redi-Ride trips to vote be scheduled a day in advance. Demand-response rides can be arranged by calling 517-394-2282.

EATRAN riders must reserve trips to and from Eaton County polling centers by calling 517-543-4087 no later than

5 p.m. the day before you plan to vote.

Clinton Transit voters should call 989-224-8127 or use the Clinton Transit mobile app to schedule a ride at least a day in advance. Scheduling hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. – 6 p.m., and Saturday, 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Visit CATA, EATRAN or Clinton Transit for additional information regarding free rides.
