2025-2026 MSU Campus Service
CATA's Spartan Service operates seven days a week during fall and spring semesters. Eight dedicated free-fare campus routes serve university apartments, residence halls, commuter parking lots and main campus facilities throughout the day and evening, with over 100 bus stops for easy access.
Lot Link and Night Owl provide on-demand service late at night and early in the morning when campus routes are not running.
Spartan Service Dates
Fall and spring semester service dates:
- 2025 Fall Semester: Monday, Aug. 18 – Sunday, Dec. 14, 2025 (classes begin Aug. 25)
- 2026 Spring Semester: Monday, Jan. 12 – Sunday, May 3, 2026
Campus routes and services do not operate during Spring Break week except for Route 32.
CATA also provides year-round service from off-campus apartments in East Lansing, Okemos, Haslett and Jolly/Dunckel Road areas to MSU
MSU-CATA Transportation Center
The MSU-CATA Transportation Center at Shaw Parking Ramp 1 is the main boarding center and transfer point for CATA routes serving MSU. The facility is open 24/7 and is located across from Shaw Hall.
Disability Service
CATA operates on-campus Spec-Tran service seven days a week for students with disabilities who cannot use fixed-route service. Spec-Tran MSU students are eligible for free passes through MSU's Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities.
Weekday Service Schedule
Monday through Friday, CATA operates six fixed routes on campus from 7 a.m. with varying end times. Buses run as often as every 10 minutes during the day and early evening.
