Seasonal Detours
When weather, events or game days affect regular service, CATA updates its routes to keep you moving. Find detour information for snow, MSU football games, and downtown events below
Event Detours
When special events take place in downtown Lansing, CATA updates select routes to follow standard event detour paths. Notices are posted on this page when detours are in effect.
CATA Snow Route Detours
CATA implements snow route detours when roads along certain routes are blocked due to winter storm conditions. Thirteen routes are subject to detours when significant snowfall or ice occurs. Detours are activated on a route-by-route basis

Snow Detour Update
Does Your Route Have a Snow Detour?
The following routes may go on detour during heavy snow or ice: Routes 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, 22, 23, 24, and 26.
View the detour maps above this section to find your nearest bus stop.
Snow Safety Tips
- Never climb a snow mound at a bus stop or wait in an intersection or roadway.
- If your bus stop is blocked by snow, walk to the nearest cleared driveway or sidewalk.
- Be visible to your driver from a distance and wave to signal you need a ride.
- Drivers may stop before or past the usual stop depending on conditions.
When Snow Routes Are in Effect
When a route goes on detour, stops on impassable roads will go out of service. All stops along the detour path will stay in service. Use the detour maps to find your closest active stop.
