Route 32 Detours in Conjunction with Farm Lane Project

Lansing, MI-Starting Monday, March 24, 2008, CATA’s Route 32--service to MSU’s Commuter Lot and Spartan Village--will be replaced by two detour routes. Routes 32A and 32B will operate in conjunction with the Farm Lane rail underpass project (and closing of Farm Lane) which is slated for completion in the summer of 2009. Service to the Pavilion for Agricultural & Livestock Education, currently provided on select trips by Route 32, will conclude when the detours go into effect.

Route 32A will travel counter-clockwise departing the MSU-CTC/Ramp 1 and traveling west on Shaw Lane to Harrison, south to Spartan Village, onto Mt. Hope and east into the Commuter Lot. From the lot, the bus will continue east on Mt. Hope to Hagadorn, then north returning to the MSU-CTC/Ramp 1 via Service Road, Bogue and Shaw Lane. Route 32B will travel clockwise from the MSU-CTC/Ramp 1 following the same route in the opposite direction.

Customers traveling to/from the Commuter Lot and central campus should expect an additional 5 to 15 minutes travel time. Travel times to and from Spartan Village and campus should remain approximately the same. Only a limited number of bus stops will be served along the new routes for a faster commute on Routes 32A and 32B. Routes maps identifying the bus stops served are available online, in printed schedules distributed in racks on campus or by calling CATA’s Customer Service at 394-1000.

CATA’s Lot Link will conclude service to the Commuter Lot on March 24th. Customers should use Route 35 for evening and weekend service to the Commuter Lot. Lots 83 and 91 will continue to be served by Lot Link.

Routes 32A and 32B will operate Monday - Friday from 7AM to 7PM through May 2nd when MSU’s semester concludes. The detour routes will resume on August 18, 2008 for MSU’s fall semester and continue through May 2009.
