CATA SEEKS FEEDBACK ON PROPOSED FARE AND PASS PRICE INCREASES

Send us feedback now at info@cata.org

The Capital Area Transportation Authority (CATA) is seeking citizen input regarding proposed fare and pass price increases for implementation in the coming year (2008). "We have not increased our full fare- now at $1.00- since 1994." said Sandy Draggoo, CATA CEO/Executive Director. "We are seeking as much citizen feedback as possible on the proposed fare and pass price increases."

There are price increases proposed for all CATA cash fares as well as CATA pass and ride cards for all CATA services. The full cash fare would go from $1.00 to $1.25, student fares would increase from 50¢ to 75¢ and Spec-Tran fares would increase from $2.00 to $2.50 per ride.

Included in the proposal is a double fare for all customer boardings in Delta Township. For example, a customer boarding a CATA fixed-route bus at the Lansing Mall, en route to Okemos, would pay a double fare of $2.50. Their return trip fare from Okemos to the Lansing Mall would be the full fare- $1.25. A Spec-Tran customer boarding at Lansing Mall would pay $5.00 for a one-way trip to Okemos and they would pay the full Spec-Tran fare of $2.50 on the return trip from Okemos to their Delta Township destination. View the complete fare and pass price proposal (PDF) or call or write CATA for a hard copy.

Public hearings will be held in an open house format; allowing citizens to speak one-on-one with CATA representatives about the proposed changes. Citizens may also give comments until 5PM on February 7, 2008 by email to info@cata.org, by calling CATA at 517.394.1100 or mailing or dropping comments to:
Proposed Fare Changes, CATA, 4615 Tranter Street, Lansing, MI 48910.
