Multiple CATA Routes On Detour Due to CSO Project
Lansing, MI-Starting Monday, March 24, 2008, 14 CATA routes will go on detour due to the next phase of the Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) road construction project. Buses will be unable to travel on Grand Avenue (between St. Joseph Highway and Lenawee and between Kalamazoo and Shiawassee) during the first stage of the project. Most bus routes departing the CATA Transportation Center (CTC) at 420 S. Grand Avenue will be using either Larch or Walnut streets in lieu of Grand Avenue. Customers can find route-by-route detour information online, on CATA’s Rider Alert phone (367-7277), or by calling CATA’s Customer Service at 394-1000. The following routes will be detoured in the downtown Lansing area:
- Route 1 Downtown Lansing - Meridian Mall
- Route 3 Willow - Lansing Mall
- Route 5 South Cedar - Edgewood
- Route 8 Pennsylvania - Holt
- Route 9 S. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd - Miller
- Route 10 North Lansing - Turner
- Route 11 Waverly - Colonial Village
- Route 12 West Michigan - Waverly
- Route 13 Groesbeck Area
- Route 14 North Grand River - Airport
- Route 16 W. Lake Lansing Rd - Eastwood Towne Center
- Route 46 Mason, Limited
- Route 48 Williamston/Webberville Limited
CATA’s Entertainment Express trolley service will also be detoured in the downtown Lansing area due to the construction.
All 16 routes that normally transfer at the CTC will continue to depart from the Center at their scheduled times and the CTC will remain open. A CATA courtesy shuttle bus will operate seven days a week at no charge to transport passengers between the CTC and the LCC campus. The shuttle will travel on Walnut and Capitol. Customers traveling to and from LCC via the shuttle will need to use the bus stop at Capitol and Shiawassee as only a few CATA routes will be able to serve the LCC bus shelters on Shiawassee just west of Grand Avenue.
