Hi all,
Well, I have
to admire the IOC for taking quick action in skate-gate. The Canadian
pair's figure skaters have been awarded a gold medal. Hooray to the IOC
for righting a wrong. Everyone here (well, except for the Russians) feel
that the action taken by the IOC was correct.
From my personal
experience here, if I had to choose a country that showed the most spirit
and had the most people here other than the U.S., I'd have to say it was
Norway. It seems like half the country must have made the trip here for
the Olympics. I had a group on my bus today from Norway and it really
made my day. Half of them were dressed in animal skins and wore
horned helmets like the Norse explorers of old. When they boarded my bus
they started singing songs from their home country. At one point,
the man standing right behind me said to me, "The song they are singing
now is for you." I smiled and said thank you. At least I think that
was the appropriate response, because when it comes down to it, I have
no idea what they were singing, as they were singing in Norwegian.
I don't care
if I have to get up at 1:00 A.M. and work 12 - 15 hour days 6 days a week.
To be able to meet and interact with so many people from around the world,
and to be a part of the Olympic experience, it is something I will never
forget.

The
very spirited Norwegian spectators. I asked the one standing behind
me to take a photo of them on my bus.

Then I took one as they were getting off the bus.
