Hello everyone,
Today was
my day for international relations. I had a group from Sweden and
later some German media people on my bus. The Swedish group started talking
to me in Swedish and I have to admit, I'm not a scholar when it comes
to the Swedish language. I was finally able to understand they wanted
to know if they were on the right bus to get where they wanted to go.
I was able to get across to them that this was the bus they wanted and
I would take them to where they wanted to be. The other group were members
of the German media. The biathlon was taking place at Soldier Hollow today
and a German athlete won. My German is a little better (not much
better, but a little) than my Swedish, so I was able to tell them they
were on the right bus and I would take them to the venue and it would
only take 10 minutes. They were running late and wanted to get there to
take pictures of their winner.
I don't
know what the public perception of the rest of the Olympics is, but I
do know that everyone here is very pleased with the transportation being
provided. I had several occasions today of either people talking
directly to me or overhearing passengers talking to each other. They were
all saying the same thing. How great the transportation was and
how smoothly things were running. Today we moved 15,000 people up to the
venue and back. That's 30,000 rides. Even when the event ended and the
crowd came out in a steady stream, no one had to wait for a bus. When
one bus
filled and left, another was ready to pull in and take its place. It's
a good feeling to know that all the work and effort being put forth for
transportation is paying off.
Men's snowboarding
finals...WOW. It was a clean sweep for the U.S. Way
to go team U.S.A.!!!

PS: Just

Just
can't get enough of these mountains at sunrise, they are breathtaking!
