New Bus Route Serves LCC West Campus and More!

Lansing, MI –A partnership between CATA and Lansing Community College has resulted in the new LCC West Campus - Lansing Mall Connector. "LCC saw a need for public transportation to its new West Campus facility in Delta Township and looked to CATA to provide the service," explains Sandy Draggoo, CATA’s Executive Director. Barbara Larson, LCC Vice-President of Administrative Services remarks, "We are proud to be able to provide this service to make the West Campus available to more people in our community. We appreciate CATA’s flexibility in creating a connector route from the Lansing Mall."

A new bus service providing transportation between the Lansing Mall and LCC’s new West Campus facility will kick off on Monday, January 10, 2005. The fixed-route service—buses traveling an established route with scheduled boarding times at bus stops along the route—will be operated by CATA. The new service will operate weekdays through May 6, 2005.

The bus will travel from the mall on Mall Drive south to Ivan Street, to Snow Road to the West Campus. Customers can board the Connector bus at the Lansing Mall (Mervyn’s west entrance) or at any bus stop along the Connector route for travel to and from LCC’s West Campus or other route destinations. At LCC’s West Campus, CATA buses will drop off and pick up passengers at the bus stop located at the west entrance. CATA’s regular fixed-route fares apply and CATA fixed-route passes can be used on this route.

LCC West Campus - Lansing Mall Connector fares:

• $1 for Adults
• 50¢ for students, seniors and persons with disabilities
• CATA fixed-route passes will be honored.

Transfers are free on CATA fixed-route services.

For transportation from LCC’s Downtown Campus to the West Campus, customers can catch Route 3 Willow - Lansing Mall at the boarding area on Shiawassee Street. Route 3 buses depart approximately every 30 minutes en route to the mall. Customers should request a transfer ticket upon boarding so their transfer from Route 3 to the Connector service is free of charge.

In addition, customers may request to be picked up at locations within one-quarter mile of the Connector route if they reserve their ride with CATA by 5:00PM, the day before their trip. The ride reservation line is 394-4178. 

The LCC West Campus - Lansing Mall Connector will not operate during LCC’s spring break—March 7th through 13th.
