CATA Introduces Route in Delhi Township
Lansing, MI—A new CATA bus route in Delhi Township will
provide service to businesses and residents along Holt, Washington,
Willoughby, Keller, Depot and Delhi NE Roads. The fixed-route service
(buses traveling an established route with scheduled boarding times
at bus stops along the route) will kick off on Monday, January
10, 2005. "This service (Route 19 Delhi Loop) will be a real
asset to the Township. I am certain that the businesses and schools
along the new route will be thrilled with this new transportation
option!" said Delhi Township Supervisor, Stuart Goodrich.
CATA's Route
19 Delhi Loop will serve such
destinations as Tamarack Apartments, Holt Plaza, Holt 9th Grade
Campus and High School, Great Lakes Homes Housing Co-op, Lutheran
Heritage Village and Cedar Park Shopping Center. Service will operate
Monday through Friday during peak travel hours - 6:30AM until 8:35AM
and again from 3:05PM until 4:50PM. The Delhi Loop bus will circulate
the route every 30 minutes during these hours.
"Both CATA and Delhi Township officials recognized a need
for additional fixed-route service in the township," explains
CATA’s Executive Director, Sandy Draggoo. "CATA responded
with the Delhi Loop."
The township is currently served by three established CATA services. Route
7 Aurelius travels the northeast portion of Delhi
Township and Route
8 Pennsylvania - Holt serves South Cedar
and the Holt, Eifert and Aurelius Roads corridor. Both routes
travel to the CATA Transportation Center in downtown Lansing
where connections to 17 routes can be made. Service changes on
Route 7 (effective January 10th) will have buses traveling south
of Jolly Road along Dunckel, Legacy Parkway, Belle Chase and
Pine Tree Road. Delhi Redi-Ride provides
residents with curb-to-curb service within the township’s
service area when reservations are made in advance. Call 394-4178
to reserve a ride. Schedules for each of these routes,
including the new Route 19 Delhi Loop, are available
in schedule racks throughout the township and in the Route Info
section of CATA’s website. For more information, please
call CATA’s Customer Service Representatives at 394-1000.
